John Scordakis

SCORDAKIS, John George

A native of Mankato, Minn., born on July 16, 1928; he died September 24, 2009. Beloved husband of Ginger Scalia, father of Michael Demosthenes Alexander Scordakis and his wife Wendy Marie and George Socrates John Scordakis and his wife Elaine. Loving Papou of Kenneth Alexander, Alexander Demosthenes, and Jonathan Edward. Son of George John and Athanasia Scordakis of Greece and later, Alice, also of Greece. Brother to William, Christine, and Father Haralampos.

John enlisted in the Army after graduating from high school. After receiving an honorable discharge for service in Korea, he attended a school of acting in Philadelphia. John was active in entertainment throughout his life, including television production, radio (KXRQ), and Community Theater. He always had a passion for singing and acting, especially the productions at Sacramento’s JayRob Theater. While pursuing these passions, John was also a dedicated State employee, working for thirty years, predominantly as a manager of management consulting groups.

John enjoyed his grandchildren, theater, traveling, cooking, and fishing and took great pleasure in being with and helping his family and friends. All enjoyed John’s great sense of humor, exceptional wit, and kind spirit.

Friends are welcome for Trisagion Service (Visitation) at St. Katherine’s Greek Orthodox Church, 9165 Peets Street, Elk Grove, Calif., at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 29, 2009. Funeral services will be held at St. Katherine’s at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 30, 2009. Interment will be immediately following at St. Mary’s Cemetery, 6700 21st Avenue. Arranged by GEORGE L. KLUMPP CHAPEL OF FLOWERS. Remembrances may be made to St. Katherine’s Greek Orthodox Church.
